Albany – The president of the Assembly, Carl Hheastie, said on Tuesday that his Chamber has an agreement with the five city district prosecutors to renew the laws that govern the exchange of evidence in criminal trials.
Hheastie (D-Bronx) revealed the progress to journalists when Governor Kathy Hochul was one hour south in Ulster County at a press conference where she accused legislators of maintaining the state budget on the subject.
“I think we work, we have a framework to solve the discovery problem. I just reported my conference and we are in a good place,” Heastie told reporters.
The terms of the agreement are hidden immediately clear.
Hochul so far is not taking the apparent agreement as an agreement made.
“It sounds like very good news, right,” he told the post when he returned to the Capitol on Tuesday afternoon?
The state budget deadline was April 1. Hochul has not held a meeting with legislators from Thorsday, the sources said.
