The spectrum for satellite -based communication services can be assigned to 4 percent of adjusted gross income, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) suggested in its recommendations on the price of the spectrum.

The long -awaited Government’s final recommendation has suggested that the spectrum be assigned for five years, with a potential extension of two years. Trai, Trai has recommended the 4 percent geostational orbit tax (GSO), Trai has recommended the 4 percent tax, subject to a minimum annual spectrum charge of ₹ 3,500 per MHz.

Additional charges by urban areas

In the case of urban areas, it suggested an additional position of ₹ 500 per subscriber per year, while rural or remote regions will be exempt.

Subscriber charges can be paid by fixed satellite service providers based on NGSO in a basic basic equal to 125 times the total number of subscribers in urban areas at the end of the previous quarter. The government may consider providing a subsidy for FSS user terminals based on NGSO to specific user segments in rural and remote areas, said Trai.

Quarterly spectrum payment

AG AG -based spectrum charges can be paid in an anticipated quarterly basic, within 15 days after the beginning of the trimester breathed. The minimum spectrum charges can be paid in advance at the time of spectrum allocation and at the beginning of each year.

“The spectrum will be assigned with a basic shared under the condition that each authorized entity and other entities, authorized by the central government coordinated between them in good faith,” Trai said in their recommendations.

Satellite stations that will be established

In the frequency range (s) they are already identified for international mobile telecommunications (IMT), the liaison doors of the satellite earth station will establish uninhabited or remote locations case by case, where there is the probability of IMT IMT services IMT. Link doors will be installed and commissioned within 12 months from the time of authorization.

There must be a defined timeline, which does not exidate 30 days from the application date, within which the frequency specific should be designed for an authorized entity for TSATCOM services.

Responding to the suggestions, Lieutenant General AK Bhatt (RETD), General Director of the Indian Space Association (ISSPA) said: “The proposed framework for spectrum charges in the margin presentations of Trai balance the need for government income in the satellite level game of all satellites.”
