At least 7 dead after Doctors Without Borders facility in South Sudan targeted in aerial bombing

The doctors of the medical beneficial organization without borders said on Saturday that their installation in a remote part of South Sudan was attacked in an air bombing that killed at least seven people.

Fangak County Commissioner Biel Buitros Biel, told Associated Press that a 9 -month -old boy was among the dead in the air attack. He added that at least 25 people were injured, he thought that an evaluation of the damage was ongoing.

Doctors Without Borders, known for their French initials, MSF, issued a statement about X condemning the attack on their hospital, which is said to be the only source of medical care for 40,000 residents, including many people displaced by floods.

The MSF Mission Chief called “a clear violation of international humanitarian law.”

🔴 Today, the MSF hospital in Old Fangak, South Sudan, was a bed of bombs.

The pharmacy was destroyed. All lost medical supplies. There are reports of murdered people and wounds.

This is the only functional hospital in the area.

It was not clear immediately why the installation was attacked, the team of government troops. A spokesman for the South Sudan Army could not be contacted to comment. The hospital is located in a northern city known as old mangok.

A MSF spokesman said his hospital was hit by air attacks shortly after 4 am local time on Saturday. They talked about anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press.

The attack caused significant damage to the hospital pharmacy, destroying all medical supplies. There was no definitive becoming victims.

But the Commissioner of the Fangok County, Biel Buitros Biel, told the AP that at least four were killed in the air attack, including a 9 -month -old boy. He added that at least 25 people were injured, he thought that an evaluation of the damage was ongoing.

Additional strikes occurred hours later near the mud market, causing generalized panic and the displacement of civilians, according to several eyewitnesses.

Old Fangak is one of several main cities in mangok county, an ethnic part of the country that has historically been associated with the Leal opposition party to Riek Machar, the first subcon president of South Sudan of the South that is now Houion.

The attack on the hospital is the last climbing in an assault directed by the government to opposition groups throughout the country.

Since March, government troops supported by Uganda soldiers have carried out boxes of air attacks that direct areas in the neighboring state of Alto Nilo.
