A radar clocked someone going nearly double the speed limit. It turned out to be a duck — and a “repeat offender.”

An image of a radar of a speed criminal captured in the center of Switzerland last month revealed that the culprit was not only a duck, but probably a “repeated criminal,” local authorities said.

The police in the city of Koniz, near the capital, Bern, was amazed when they used to pass radar images on April 13 to discover that a Mallard was among those trapped in the speed trap, the municipality said Ons’s Facebook page on the weekend.

The duck was caught going 52 kilometers per hour (32 mph) in an area of 30 km, the post said, along with a fast bird photo.

Police say that the duck was probably a repeated criminal after being broken in the same place in 2018.

The story, first reported by Berner Zeitung Newpaper on Monday, became equally strange.

It turned out that a similar aspect was captured flying in the same place exactly at the same speed, exactly on the same date of seven years, according to the Facebook publication. The authorities called the duck a “notorious corridor and a repeated criminal.”

The municipality said it had considered whether everything might not be a late joke from April Fool or a “false” image.

But police inspection said it was impossible for a doctor or manipulating the radar system.

Computers are calibrated and tested every year by the Federal Institute of Metrology (Goals) of Switzerland, and photo tasks are sealed, the municipality explained.

The Facebook publication concluded: “We hope you enjoy reflecting on curious coincidences, animal criminal activities and the maximum flight speed of ducks.”
