USMNT’s Weston McKennie being investigated for illegal betting

Milan – The United States midfielder, Weston McKennie, is among the 13 soccer players investigated for illegal online bets in Italy, according to generalized media reports.

A new investigation carried out by the prosecutors of Milan is derived from the evidence given by Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Fagioli in 2023. Both served the prohibitions of Leghy, discarding them during most of the last season, after also agreeing the bargains of the pleas.

Juventus Fagioli midfielder, currently on loan in Fiorentina, was prohibited for seven months after admitting that they bet on matches, while Newcastle’s tonali received a longer suspension of 10 months as well as his bets. Team games –

The duo is also appointed in the new investigation, together with the then Juventus teammate in Fagioli, McKennie and nine other current or previous players of Serie A, as well as the defender of Leeds Junior Firpo.

There is no evidence that the other players played in football matches, but their names arose from the statements given by Tonali and Fagioli and the analysis of their devices.

Players are being investigated for using illegal poker platforms online and betting on other sports. As such, they do not risk a prohibition, but a maximum fine of 250 euros ($ 284) of the Italian authorities.

Tonali and Fagioli have also accused of promoting those sites among their teammates and other soccer players.

Fagioli said in a deposit: “I pointed out (former Aston villa nicol forward) illegal Zaniolo sites where I could do online bets, in roulette or poker … the organizers of the sites had told me that they would give me some advantages if Tertt.” “

A message about Zaniolo found on Fagioli’s phone also said: “Bravo, capture it, work for me.”
