A father and son of South Bay have been accused of fraud and robbery after an alleged one -year life insurance plan that scored them and three other $ 1.4 million in battered commissions.

A complaint from the former lawyer of an alleged victim in 2021 caused an investigation by the California insurance regulator that led to the sentence last month or Daniel Jon Carpenter, 62, or Morgan, Blake Carpect, 27 years old or San José in motto, and two others, and two.

The California insurance department claimed that the old carpenter “orchestrated” the fraud that affected more than two disobeyed people, almost all of the Bay area.

Daniel Carpenter was arrested on March 19 and processed the next day in the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in San José for charges of insurance fraud, theft and identity theft, all serious crimes. His son, who delivered on March 24, is accused of insurance fraud of serious crimes and great serious crime.

Another man from San José, Noah Maxwell Kuh, 26, was arrested on March 20 and accused of insurance fraud of serious crimes, said the Department of Insurance.

Alejandro Carlos, 25, or Gilroy, wanted an alleged fraud of serious crime and a great robbery of serious crime, “is still a fugitive,” the department said.

A woman from southern California, Naturae Marie Wetstein, 56, was accused of insurance fraud of serious crimes and great deltad. He turned on March 26, the department said.

The carpenters, Kuh and Wrettstein are scheduled to appear before the court in San José on April 25 for the audiences of the pleas.

The five defendants have been licensed insurance agents, with Kuh and Wetstein currently under license suspension, the department said.

It is alleged that the group has cheated customers about the terms of life insurance policies and insurance companies deceived on who was selling the policies, in order to raise commissions in more than $ 2,000,000 in insurance premiums paid for alleged victims.

“This deceptive scheme allowed them to collect unwanted commissions from four insurance companies between 2017 and 2023,” the department said.

Twenty -eight people, all except one from the Bay area, were victims, and the department said it helped them recover more than $ 2 million that they collectively spent.

The lawyer who complained cited falsification fraud and insurance related to life insurance policies sold by Daniel Carpenter, the department said.

The records of the Superior Court of the County of Santa Clara show that Daniel Carpenter and Wetstein were made by a client named Alex Lowry in 2021. Lowry alleged Carpenter Fored Signature to buy two life insurance of $ 7.5 million lacked ticin, and that Bifcyer appointed as the agent. Wetstein in judicial presentations fought against the claims, arguing that Lowry had been reimbursed by the insurer the $ 190000 in premiums he paid, and that he knows the two policies. Carpenter in a judicial presentation denied Lowry’s claims, but said he was willing to discuss an agreement.

Lowry dropped the case last August under the circumstances not made clear in judicial records. His lawyer did not respond to comments requests.
