Soccer player dead at 21 after terrifying mid-game collision

A Peruvian soccer player died tragically after colliding with the opposite goalkeeper while fighting for a ball in the attack area.

The recent incident occurred during the 70th minute of the Peru Cup match between the true Titan NC and the New Cajamarca defender when Gonzales Altamirano, 21, cut in the head when the goalkeeper jumped through the ball.

Altamirano immediately fell to the ground and was motionless, with players of both teams almost instantly the concern of expression for him.

The true Titan NC player was placed on a stretcher and put in an ambulance before taking a hospital in the city of Moyobamba in northern Peru, where he died after spending two days in critical condition, the team confirmed Thursday.

“Rest in peace friend. We will remind you of your love for football and your family. You leave us with great pain,” said the team in a statement. “Great strength for your family at this difficult moment. They are not alone because Titan is with them and the football family is with them.”

Altamirano’s brother, Eliceo, had told the media in Peru that his brother had suffered an artery rupture in his head that vomed from the trauma of the forceful force.

Altamirano’s father expressed his gratitude for the large amount of support for his son in a statement to local media, Metro reported.

“I would like to thank everyone for the support with this terrible pain we are experiencing,” said José. “Felmese wanted to be a great soccer player from a very early age and always talked about going as far in sport as he could. I know he would dedicate all his future achievements. Initially, he connects that it was freezing.

“I wanted to go to the field to be closer to my son when I realized that it was him, he would like to see me and he gave it until we arrived at the hospital when he was very critical.”

The family will celebrate Altamirano’s funeral on Friday.
