Should Macklin Celebrini be the next captain of the San Jose Sharks?

The San José, when the San Jose Sharks and the then Captain Joe Pavelski could not reach a contract in Pavelski leader in 2019 to sign with the stars of Dallas, since a high sewing of free agent-Logan seemed a logical choice to achieve it.

Couture was a first round of shark drafts in 2007, it became one of the best scorers of the team during its first nine seasons in the NHL, and had already been an alternative captain for four years.

Now that Couture is expected to announce on Tuesday, after a Leghy NHL race, that his game days are due to health reasons, sharks could decide that another player uses’ C ‘C’ next season.

Couture does not retire official, since he is removed in his eight -year contract. Then, if he is still captain, if he does not intend to resume his career as a player, it is a question that sharks will have to answer.

But if the sharks name a hut sewing successor at the end of this year, who should be?

There are some candidates here.

Mario Ferraro, Defense

Ferraro, 26, now in his sixth NHL season, all with sharks, embodies many of the necessary characteristics to be a captain. Ferraro is not only the greatest vocal presence in the room, but also has an important role in the team and supports what his willingness to put his body at stake says.

Ferraro is young enough to relate to some of the less expert players of the sharks, but it has also existed enough to have the respect of the older veterans. He is also in his fourth year as a shark captain.

But what perhaps works against Ferraro is that he is entering a year of contract and will become a free free agent in 2026 without a new agreement. If the sharks are very out of the image of the playoffs again next season, it could be sent to a contender in the exchange deadline.

Tyler Toffoli, extreme

Toffoli, a Stanley Cup champion who will turn 33 at the end of this month, ending his first season in San José, but already exhibited some necessary leadership qualities.

Toffoli has developed a close link and has Bone a valuable resource for the front of the rookie Macklin Celebini and Will Smith during the season and is not afraid to say what he thinks, it is time to say what is needed.

Following the sharks’ 5-2 loss to the calgary flame on Sunday, When He Scored His 30th Goal of The Season, Toffoli Sent a Message of Sorts to His Teammates, Saying, “I Think If Eventone Refects in The Right Next Camping, Iting Inting Intoing Intoing, Iting Intoing, Beaning, Beaning, Beaning, Beaning, Beaning, Beaning, Beaning, Beaning, Beaning, Beaning Intoing, Beaning Intoing, Going Intoing, Beaning Intoing, Beaning Intoing Intoing, Beaning Intoing Intoing, Bean, Bean, Bean, Bean, Bean-Goeing Ining, Beaning Ining, Bean, Bean-Goeing Ining.

“As much as (he) wants to write down, he hears,” said the Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky, about Toffoli. “That is what we need here. We need guys who want to win and love to win. That’s what is about (Toffoli).”

Toffoli is signed during the 2027-28 season, and if he becomes a captain, he would provide a natural succession plan once a member of the young shark core is ready to assume that role.

Speaking of that …

Macklin Celebini, center

Celebini, recruited No. 1 in general by San José last year, has been all that sharks expected that he would be in their first season as a professional. The final of the Enterresdy season against the Edmonton Oilers, Celebini has a team leading 63 points, and its 25 goals lead all NHL’s rookies.

“Macklin is going to be extremely special,” Warsofsky said last month. “And I am not only talking about the goal’s goal ability. (It is) the way she competes, the way she plays a game of 200 feet at age 18, the way she drags people to the fight with their leadership. It is fun to sit there in the front row and see it.”

It is not unprecedented that a teenager is appointed captain of a NHL team. In October 2016, the Oilers gave Connor McDavid, 19, who was his second year in the League. Sidney Crosby of Pittsburgh and Gabriel Landenskog of Colorado were also named captains when they were 19 in 2007 and 2012, respectively.

Even so, the most orthodox road to Captaincy for players is to spend a few years in the league, leave roots and then start using the ‘C’ in its twenty years. Recent examples include Quinn Hughes de Vancouver, Brady Tkachuk from Ottawa, Nico Hischier of New Jersey, Nick Suzuki of Montreal and Aleksander Barkov from Florida.
