Porsche Cars North America issued two withdrawals last week, one for 9,735 of its 2022-2023 Taycan Sports Cars and another for 8,571 or its Safetysa crossovers.

The recovery report of the affected Taycans said that a “manufacturing error” in its occupant classification system for the “Airbag’s Automatic Activation/Deactivation” could make the airbag in the front passenger air bag go out.

“An air bag that does not implement the duration of an accident increases the risk of injuries,” said the NHTSA.

In the report, the Porsche Cars North America pointed out the “connection of the gate of the heating carpet of the seat cushion in the transition of the connection cable to the heating cable” as the source of the problem.

Taycan owners affected by the retirement may make the Porsche dealers exchange the front passenger seat cushion for a “new optimized” to solve the problem, according to the retirement report.

Porsche also said in that report that a “subset” of the affected electric macanes “can also have an insufficient union of the inverse chamber housing, which can allow the intrusion of moisture that can also result in blurred images of the reverse chamber in those vehicles.”
