The former spokesman for the Pentagon Pentagon announced his resignation on Wednesday after being left aside last month for his role in the elimination of a website of the Defense Department that celebrates the MLB Trailblazer Jackie Robinson.
John Ullyot, who had been directing the Pentagon press store on a base of action, told Politico that his decision to leave the DOD arrived after a meeting with the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, did not result in a job taken to his liking.
“I made clear the secretary [Pete] Hegseeth Before the inauguration that he was not interested in being number two for anyone in public affairs, ”Ulyot told The Outlet, noting that from the beginning, he only sacrificed himself to help the Pentagon for two months of action.
“The last months, as that time approached, the secretary and I talked and we could not reach an agreement on another good adjustment for me in the Department of Defense,” he added. “So I informed him today that I will go at the end of this week.”
Ulfot said he will continue to be a firm defender of Hegseeth.
Ullyot had relegated the legs to a role of “special projects” in the Pentagon after urging about the elimination of an online article focused on Robinson’s military background, Washington Post reported last month.
Robinson, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, broke the color barrier of the major baseball leagues in 1947, becoming the first black player to play in the modern era when he made his debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
ULFOT initially defended the elimination of Robinson’s article, launching a statement on March 19 declaring that diversity, equity and inclusion “is dead in the Department of Defense,” according to ESPN.
About an Hour Later, The Public Affairs Official Released An Updated Statement Claiming: “Everyone at The Defense Department Laves Jackie Robinson, as Well as The Navajo Code Talkers, The Tuskegee Airmen, The Marines At Iwo Jima and So Many Cases – We Salue Tersers – We Salute Toereters – We Salute Toeresers – We Salute Toeresers – We Salute Toesers – We Salue Tersers – We Salue Tersers – Saluto Tesers – Salute ToeSers – Salute TeseSers – Salute Tosers – Save Tersers’s Tayers.
“In the rare cases that contained, eliminated, either deliberately or by mistake is beyond the clearly described scope of the directive, we instruct the components and correct the content to recognize our heroes by theirs, he added.
Robinson’s story was restored on the DOD website shortly after.
Subsequently, Ullyot was replaced by Sean Parnell as the upper Pentagon spokesman.
His resignation comes the same week, since three senior Pentagon officials have licensed bones in the midst of leak investigation in the Department of Defense.
