Mavericks advance in NBA play-in tournament with win over Kings

Sacramento, California-Klay Thompson scored 16 of his 23 points in the second dominant trimester of Dallas to obtain the redemption for their failure in Sacramento a year ago, helping the Mavericks to overcome the Kings 120-106 on Wednesday night to advance the game tournament.

One year until the day, when Thompson lost the 10 shots in his last game for Golden State in a defeat in Sacramento, Thompson fed the victory with four 3 points in the second quarter of 44 points of Dallas.

That turned the game into a laugh and kept the chaotic season of the Mavericks alive for at least one more game.

Dallas advanced to play in Memphis on Friday night to have the opportunity to enter the playoffs such as the eighth seed in the West.

The winner of that game will open the playoffs on Sunday in Oklahoma City sown.

The MAVs have undergone a tumultuous season after exchanging the young superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in a seismic trade that led Anthony Davis to Dallas and Vitriolo from the base to the organization.

The star base, Kyrie Irving, fell with a seasonal knee injury shortly after that exchange, ending any realistic hope of another deep playoff career after reaching the NBA finals last season.

But thanks to the Thompson shooting and a strong defensive effort, they still have an opportunity to reach the playoffs.

Dallas opened the second quarter with a 20-6 race fed by 3s consecutive Thompson.

Thompson connected two 3 more later in the room when the MAVs built the advantage at 23 points in the middle, eliminating any drama.

Davis led Dallas with 27 points. Demar Derozan scored 33 points for the Kings, and Zach Lavine added 20.

It was a disappointing end for a disappointing season for the Kings, who fired coach Mike Brown in December and exchanged Star Point de’aaron Fox to San Antonio in February.

Everything led to Sacramento to lose the playoffs for the 18th time in 19 seasons, asking questions about the future state of the team with the state of the interim coach Doug Christie.
