Labor Day 2025: What’s Open and What’s Not.

Hey, it’s Labor Day! Summer’s almost over, so it’s time to appreciate workers, chill with family, and grill out before it gets too cold.

Lots of stores are open with special sales, but some places aren’t. Here’s what’s up.

Banks and Wall Street: Closed

Need the bank? Go on Tuesday. Banks and credit unions are closed. You can still use the ATM and the app, but the doors are locked.

Wall Street’s quiet too. The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are closed. A rare day off for the finance crowd!

Mail and Deliveries: A Bit Slow

No mail today. The USPS is closed.

FedEx and UPS are mostly closed, too. If you need it ASAP, maybe it’ll arrive, but don’t bet on it. Try tomorrow.

Government and Schools: Closed

No big surprise! It’s a federal holiday, so DMVs, city halls, and libraries are closed. That long line you were dreading? It’ll be there Tuesday.

Schools are closed everywhere.

Grocery Stores: Mostly Open

Grilling out? Nice! Stores like Walmart, Target, Kroger, Publix, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods will be open.

Quick note: Some Aldi stores might close early, so check first.

Stores: Open with Sales

It’s Labor Day, so there are buys everywhere. Places like Macy’s, Kohl’s, Best Buy, Lowe’s, and Home Depot are open and selling mattresses, appliances, and school supplies.

If you want to shop, today’s your chance.

Costco and Sam’s Club: Mixed Bag

Costco is closed everywhere.

Sam’s Club is open, but it closes a little early, around 6 p.m. BJ’s Wholesale Club is open as usual.

Drugstores and Quick Stops: Still Open

Need something late? CVS and Walgreens are open. Pharmacies might have shorter hours, so go soon.

7-Eleven and similar places are open because someone always wants snacks.

Beaches, Parks, and Outdoors: Crowded

Tons of people will be outside, so expect crowds at parks, beaches, and lakes.

Heads up: Some beaches on the East Coast might have dirty water. Check first before swimming!

Labor Day is for relaxing, shopping, and hanging out.

Banks, government offices, post offices, and Costco are closed. Most grocery stores, stores, drugstores, and restaurants are open.

So grill some food, find buys, or just relax. Just remember you might have to wait until Tuesday for some things.
