Jaime King has opened about the loss of custody of his two children, saying that he considers that the child custody system is “scary.”
King shared his “terrifying” reality after her ex -husband Kyle Newman received the full physical custody of her children James, and Leo, 9 years old, lasts an appearance in the “Whine Down With Jana Kramer” podcast.
“My duty as a mother is to protect my children. And that’s all that matters to me. This is scary,” said Star “Hart of Dixie.”
Kramer was previously involved in a battle of bitter custody with her ex -husband Mike Causin on her two children.
The couple opened about their respective experiences, since King admitted that he was not aware of how the world works when he married too young.
“I just didn’t know when I got married at an early age,” he said. “I just didn’t know that the world works like this. I knew legal systems work like this.”
“And not sound like a neophyte boy, but I thought, you know, when you choose to love some, then you love that person. You build a family with them and trust them,” King added.
Kramer, 41, agreed with the “White Chicks” camp in the traps of the legal system.
“I have been in abusive relationships in the past and you know, only from the comments to the system, it is very messy, and what they do to women and how they can become us is amazing,” added the student “One Tree Hill.”
King also claimed that her ex -husband again supported the first days of her relationship in the courts in a desperate attempt to receive custody.
“It’s scary, when being free means that you have to pay a very extreme price, and I’m not just talking about financial,” he said.
“It is very annoying, and I will do everything in my power to change the system, and it is not a will. I will do it. There is no price to pay freedom.”
A judge ruled that King and Newman, 49, will share the legal custody of their two children, but the filmmaker will have the only physical custody.
King received visiting rights, but it would have to be supervised and could only see the children three times a week. In addition to supervised visits, King had ordered to finish six months of drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
His custody agreement was dramatically amended after he failed to complete a six -month drug and alcohol program consisting of weekly tests, a 26 -week parenting program and individual advice and joint advice with their children.
“I have never had to think about myself as a sober or not sober. I stopped using drugs at age 17 or something,” King said.
In October 2024, Newman requested the exclusive custody of the children after claiming that he found his ex -wife “hanging” and “drunk” while looking at his children.
The former were locked in a legal battle over finance and custody when King requested divorce in 2020 after 13 years of marriage. They finally resolved their divorce in 2023.
Last month, King broke his silence after being expelled from his Los Angeles pad for more than $ 42,000 for rear rent.
