The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs undertook on Friday to give high -level nuclear conversations with the United States this weekend a “genuine opportunity” of success. The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, confirmed that the conversations would take place on Saturday in Oman.

The way to conversations in Oman began last month, when President Donald Trump inveterate A letter For the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamei asking for negotiations and warning of a serious conviction if the diplomacy failed.

Khamenei and Iraní Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi publicly rejected Trump’s call, claiming that they remained committed to “diplomacy” but did not see any reason to talk to a country that “constantly threatens to resort to force.”

Trump then made a Surprise announcement On Monday that American and Iranian representatives would meet in Oman for conversations, Tehran said he was not interested in having.

“We are having conversations immediately with Iran, and they have begun. It will go on Saturday. We have a very large meeting and we will see what can happen,” Trump said after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval office.

Araghchi confirmed that the conversations were underway, and Iranian state media soon reported That Araghchi himself would be there, negotiating with Trump Steve Witkoff’s envoy, while Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Al-Busidi, measured.

“We intend to evaluate the intention and resolution of the other side this Saturday. Seriously and with sincere surveillance, we are giving diplomacy a genuine opportunity,” a spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs saying On Friday.

“Without threats and intimidation of the American side, there is a good possibility of reaching an agreement. We reject any harassment and coercion,” added Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Majid Takht-E Ravanchi.

Khamenei’s advisor Ali Shamkhani said Iran would contribute “important and practical” to the meeting.

“If Washington reaches conversations with sincere intentions and a genuine will to reach an agreement, the path to an agreement will be clear and soft,” he said.

Blond saying In a cabinet meeting on Thursday that the administration expects Oman’s conversations to “lead to peace.”

“We have a very clear leg what Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, and I think that is what led to this meeting,” he said.

The American and Iranian parts do not agree on whether these conversations will be “direct”, as Trump insists.

The Iranians reported to maintain the delegations of Washington and Tehran in separate rooms and speak only through the mediators of Oman, but US officials said Thursday that the two delegations met in the same room.

The “indirect” conversations were held several times under the Biden administration and did not give any part the Palpable Biden eagerness to resurrect the nuclear agreement of former President Barack Obama, what Trump Trump Trump withdraw since the duration of your first mandate.

France24 on Friday aforementioned Iranian officials who continued to insist that the conversations would be “indirect”, and said Araghchi was not authorized to communicate directly with Witkoff. Since Trump is sending his personal envoy Witkoff to the meeting, it seems unlikely to settle for messages through Oman’s diplomats while running from one room to another, unless the result is productive.

Iran has not maintained formal diplomatic relations with the United States since 1980, which is an important reason why Iranians continue to insist on the framework of “indirect conversations.” The Swiss embassy in Tehran was the main intermediary of American-Iraní communications for many years.

Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD) Fulow Senior Behram Ben Talent said Fox News Digital than Disputes on Direct US. Indirect conversations are “negotiations before negotiations.”

“Both parties have an incentive for the excess of present or not confusing what is happening,” he said.

As for Livírave, the administration of Ben returns to the starting point on sanctions.

Iran, on the other hand, is clearly weakened by the misadventures of its terrorist representatives since Hamas attacked Israel in 2023. Trump has assets for a bombing campaign against Iran’s nuclear program, and the Israelis have shown Absolute superiority On the air defenses of Iran.

“He [Iranian] The regime is attractive, now, to delay and prevent a military option from materializing. They hope to use conversations with Americans as a human shield against the Israelis. As long as you are talking to the United States, the Israelis are not shooting you, “said Ben Taleblu.
