An illegal immigrant faces federal charges after he allegedly used his elbow to crush an immigration officer and customs compliance (ICE) in the face, breaking his nose and shocking it, in New Jersey earlier this year, authorities said.
Héctor Villegas-Alvarez, a 27-year-old Colombian citizen, was accused in the Federal Court of Newark last week with an assault position to a federal officer and faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $ 250,000 if he is declared guilty of delivering to the fierce.
“These charges reaffirm our commitment to protect agents of the law that put their lives on the line for the people of New Jersey every day,” the United States prosecutor in New Jersey said in a statement in New Jersey, Alina Haba.
“Those who choose to attack and assault the police will continue with fast and severe punishment,” Haba added.

The alleged attack occurred after ICE officers arrested Villegas-Alvarez in Roselle, NJ, on February 23, after identifying him as an individual without the legal immigration status and due to being deported.
Villegas-Alvarez “physically resisted the trial” and “strongly” to an official ice woman in the face while the authorities tried to stop him, according to the Office of the United States.
“As a result of the assault of Villegas Álvarez, the victim’s deportation officer suffered a body injury, including a broken nose and a brain shock from which he suffers severe symptoms after conversion, including sequence and difficulty,” strengthening himself.
The fight occurred after the officers ordered Villegas-Alvarez to leave their car.
The Colombian citizen fulfilled but tense his body and closed his arms when the officers tried to put it handcuff, according to judicial documents.
