Larry Bastian, who worked with Garth Brooks in successful songs such as “Friends in Low Places” and “Rodeo”, has died. I was 90 years old.
The legendary son of composer country, Nick, announced the sad news on Facebook and confirmed that Bastian died on Sunday, April 6 in California.
“The Lord called dad at home last night,” wrote Bastian’s son, according to the mirror. “Hello, he taught us to a very early security, along with teaching us to hunt and fish in us. He let us be children, which seems to be a day of dying thesis.”
“Thanks Dad for inspiring how I raised my children,” the tribute continued. “I taught them to work with me and I raised them to be freefield children and now they are raising theirs in the same way. I love you dad.”
Brooks, 63, celebrated the composer in 1995 when he called Bastian, one of the “best music writers of all time.”
“If one looks at the list of the best music writers of all time, I could not imagine that the list is complete without the name of Larry Bastian,” said the Superstar of country music.
In addition to successful songs such as “Friends in Low Places”, “Rodeo” and “The Dance”, Bastian also helped write the greatly popular success “unanswered prayers” with Brooks and his companion composer Pat Alger in 1991.
Brooks was so impressed with Bastian that he has included a story about the composer and “unanswered sentences” in the 1994 compilation notes, “The Hits.”
“Pat Alger and I worked in this song for a long time without a hook, without the line. We spent it through Larry Bastian, and it was if it were Mean to be,” wrote the country singer. “Larry, his wife, Myrna and I were walking for 18th Avenue, and he looked at me and said:” Oh, that’s simple. This song must be called “unanswered prayers” because some of God’s best gifts were one of those who were lless. “
“This is probably the most true song I have involved as a writer,” Brooks continued. “This real happened to my wife and when we returned home to Oklahoma. Every time I sing this song, it teaches me the same lesson … Happiness is not getting what you want, it is wanting what you have.”
The publication has communicated with the Brooks representatives to comment on the death of the composer.
Besids Garth Brooks, Bastian also wrote songs for Superstar of Country Music as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Reba Lyar and Buck Owens.
“That kind of impulse, first of all, you should know that you can do it,” Bastian explained an interview in “The Paul Leslie Hour” in 2020. “There was no doubt that I could write a song. I think you have a lot to succeed.”
“They have a saying:” You can’t leave the path of a successful song, “he added,” and that is so correct. “
Bastian’s death this month occurred when Brooks is still pursued by accusations of sexual assault launched by his former makeup artist.
