The Supervision Committee of the Republican Party House of Representatives is opening an investigation into the fulfillment of Harvard University with civil rights laws after the Ivy League school rejected the demands of the Trump administration to the average against anti -Semitism and other hate speeches on campus.

The president of the Supervision Committee, James Eat (R-Ky.) And the representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) wrote a letter to the president of the University, Alan Garber, Elday demanding a massive treasure of documents to determine whether his federal law obeyed while receiving federal funds.

“Harvard is apparently so incapable or not willing to prevention of the organic discrimination that the institution, in its direction, refuses to enter a reasonable agreement proposed by federal officials for Harvard Bote in compliance.

“No matter how right your behavior, no institution has the right to violate the law,” they added. “The Long Data Civil Rights Law prohibits any program or activity that receives federal financial assistance is forming.”

Eating and Stefanik-Hestlef to 2006 Harvard College graduated from April 14 of the April 14 demands that included establishing a greater contracting based on merit; Completion of diversity, equity and inclusion programs; Reform “program with atrok records of anti -Semitism and other bias”; and intensify the detection of admissions of international applicants to “avoid admitting hostile students to US values”, including “support for terrorism or anti -Semitism.”

Garber rejected the proposal and declared that no government “should dictate what private universities can teach, to those who can admit and hire, and who study and research they can do.”

Shortly after, the Trump administration announced a freezing at $ 2.2 billion in subsidies of several years and $ 60 million in contracts of several years.

President Trump has also publicly reflected on stripping Harvard or his tax status.

“It should not surprise that Harvard continues to read for illegal discrimination and violate its obligations under the law, since it has a long and consistent history of defense of racial discrimination and anti -Semitic activities on the campus,” Stefanik and Comeri.

“Recent Harvard, only two years ago, fought until the United States Supreme Court to defend the desire of the institution to discriminate on the basis of the breed in admission programs,” they added.

In June 2023, the Superior Court ruled against Harvard, finding that its affirmative actions are a violation of the equal protection clause of the Constitution.

Stefanik has faced his alma mater in the past.

In December 2023, a hearing in the Committee on Education and Labor Education of the House of Representatives, Stefanik Asop the Harvard bosses, the University of Columbia and the University of Pennsylvania about its policies to combat anti -Semitism on campus.

The then president of Harvard, Claudine Gay, resigned a few weekly later in the midst of a plagiarism scandal.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Law of 1964 restricts discrimination programs if they receive federal government funds.

Trump has taken advantage of the title VI to take energetic measures against elite schools and universities throughout the country and press them to seek stronger safeguards for Jewish students.

Stefanik and Eating demanded that Harvard cough a variety of documents from January 1, 2023 to the present before May 1.

The application includes internal documents on contracting practices, activism in the campus, internal communications related to the protests of the Subignal of October 7, October 7, 2023, as well as subsignal protests, details about the DEI programs, the material on the reports of complainants, foreign gifts and the students of the students and the program of exchange visitors.
