Multiple stories dominate the paddock as the Formula 1 grid reaches the historic Icola for the Romagna Grand Prix this weekend.
But one of the main stories is the future of races.
This is the last year in which Emilia Romagna’s Grand Prix is under contract with F1, and the duration of the day of the day, several pilots made their launch for the race to remain in the calendar.
Leading the way was Lance Stroll by Aston Martin, who stated that “I would” see “Imola leave the schedule.
“Yes, I mean, I enjoy coming here. There are some clues in the calendar that are very historical and great to drive,” Stroll Dooring said the FIA press conference. “This is one of them. It is stinking. But we have 25 races and a lot of country because the races. It is difficult to include them all. I hope this is this, I like to come here.”
“Yes, I want to say that it is a great circuit. I have only run here, but it is definitely towards the upper end of my favorites. I think that having two races in the same country, with how we have offers from around the world, perhaps” leader of the Oscar Piastri championship. “And when you have Monza as your second career in Italy … it’s quite difficult not to go to Monza. I think there would be some disturbances if we did!
“So for me, We Just Need To Be Careful to Preserve The History. Zandvoort Is Going, Spa Is Going To Be On Rotation, which is not the HAPPIEST ABOUT. We Just Need Not To Lose The Historical Tracks. Ok, Maybe it’s not the best for overtaking – but ontaking – but for overtaking – butta Overtaking – But Ontaking – But Ontaking – But Ontaking – But On – Not The Best for Overtaking – But Ontaking – Not for Overtaking – But it is not the best to advance, but it is not the best to advance.
Franco Colapinto, whose return to the network is another of the main stories this week, declared his “love” of the historical circuit.
“I love Icola. I love Italy. I have good memories and a great story here,” Collapinto began. “I started in Monza, that was my debut in Formula 1, and now it is Isola. Still in Italy, but with Alpine. I love Isola. It is a great track with a massive story in Formula 1.
“I think we all like to come here. History brings sport, it is a great track, and especially driving a Formula 1 car here. There are specific corners, it is a track of the old school, it is very pleasant to drive. The rooms,” added Colapinto.
The track action is launched in Icola today, with the first two practice sessions before the Saturday classification session for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend.
It remains to be seen if it is the last Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna, but the pilots certainly expect the race to remain in the calendar.
