A quantum magnetic navigation system has been tested to guide an aircraft, and surpassed standard backup systems that the planes depend when the GPS signals are stuck.
GPS and other global navigation satellite systems use radio signals transmitted between space and earth. But these radio waves are relatively weak and are vulnerable to intentional intermediation, as we saw in 2024 when the GPS interference and the supplantation of affected transatlantic flights. Now, GPS support systems are becoming increasingly important as the plans face navigation challenges.
