Neighbours at war over tech tycoon’s ‘iceberg’ mega-basement

The locals have launched a furious campaign against a technological entrepreneur of the United Kingdom on their plans to build a mega basement under their mansion.

The millionaire investor Peter Dubens will erect a huge underground leisure complex of 7700 square feet with saunas, a luxury bar and cinema, reports the Sun.

The tycoon, who founded Oakley Capital in 2002, has enraged neighbors with the “iceberg” plans.

Dubens submitted a request for planning to the local council detailing the two -year project.

The locals and the neighbors quickly opposed the “vanity project” that would occupy almost 50 percent of the area under the garden of Mr. Duben.

The renewal would take two years to complete and also have a winery, an entertainment space and a golf simulator.

The objections boxes against the controversial proposal of the millionaire begged floods shortly after the request was made.

The neighbors touch everything from the traffic management plan to possible flood risks.

The locals said that the last time Dubens had worked in their mansion of £ 10 million ($ A20.8 million) is almost three years to complete.

Claims were also presented that cars, water pipes and wastewater pipes lasted the duration of the previous renewal.

Six neighborhood councilors have written to the Council objecting the request for mass planning, saying that the development of the basement would create a “iceberg” house.

A “iceberg” house is a residence with more square feet under the ground above.

The municipality introduced specific legislation to control the development of basements and prevent “iceberg” houses.

Ward councilors also said that the plans represented a risk of involuntary flood and would damage the character of the conservation area.

In addition, the councilors raised Conerns on excessive development and damage to residential services, the impact of dangerous construction and cumulative damage to sustainability, heritage and quality of life.

A local objection to the application says: “The current construction management plan foresees 10 concrete mixers and 10 trucks omitted per week (averaging one every two hours, with a permanence time of forty minutes) for a period of many months.

“In other words, hundreds of vehicles will be needed to drive a road that is too close to take them.”

Another local objection said: “This is nothing more than the frightful vanity project of a man.

“Why does a man need so much?

The planning application was unearthed by the media The Chelsea Citizen.

“We do our best to listen to our neighbors’ concerns,” said a spokesman for Mr. Dubens to the Citizen of Chelsea.

“In the event that any development work takes place, it will be carried out with due care and consultation, and in strict compliance with the planning regulations.”

The application will be considered for the approval of the local council this month.

A local council spokesman said: “All planning requests go to consultation so that anyone can provide comments.

“The consultation on this application is open until Friday, June 6.

“The officers will review the application and all the comments after the consultation is closed, before making a recommendation.”

The Sun contacted Peter Dubens team to comment.

Mr. Dubens, who is worth £ 100 million ($ A208 million), won millions in shirts that change color before turning in the investment.

He is accustomed to earning more money with the sale of Pipex Broadband and investing in Time Out magazine.

In 2019, the Millionaire established the Peter Dubens Foundation to support good causes, mainly in the United Kingdom.
