It all started with a post. Last June, Elon Musk called Sergio Gor a snake.
Fast forward to August 2025, and President Trump wants Gor to be the next U.S. Ambassador to India. Gor might also become Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, which he can get without Senate approval. But becoming ambassador? That’ll be tough!
So, who’s Gor? He’s 38 and already pretty successful. He’s a political guy, a Trump fan, and Co-founder of Winning Team Publishing with Donald Trump Jr. He’s responsible for hiring in the White House. His friends think he’s smart, but his enemies don’t.

And then there’s Musk. That snake comment is still around, reminding everyone that some people dislike Gor, especially in tech. Remember those NASA picks from earlier this year?
What does this mean for India? Quite a bit. Washington and New Delhi have become close on defense, tech, and supply chains. Trump selecting Gor shows he wants someone he trusts to handle this important business.

But things could get complicated. Unlike Eric Garcetti, the last ambassador with a political background and diplomatic skills, Gor is a planner, a negotiator and sometimes even a fighter. Expect people to dig up his past during the approval process. Things like controversies, his focus on loyalty, and even Musk’s insult will be discussed.
However, Trump doesn’t care about the drama. He trusts Gor. By making him Special Envoy too, the President’s saying that Sergio Gor will impact America’s relationship with India and South and Central Asia, whether the Senate agrees or not.
Will the Senate agree? That’s the big question. Right now, India’s waiting, and Musk is likely watching.
