His guide about what Trump’s second term means for Washington, Business and the World
Donald Trump has said that he will talk to Vladimir Putin and the Zelenskyy volodimia on Monday to end the “bloodbath” between his two countries, after the Russian president jumped the peace conversations he had started with his Ukrainian counterpart.
Trump said on Saturday in a publication in his real social platform that the call with Putin would cover the subjects that include: “Stop the” Bloodbath “that is killing, on average, more than 5000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers per week, and trade.”
Then he will talk to Zenskyy and “several NATO members,” he added.
“Hopefully it will be a productive day, a high fire will be held, and this very violent war, a war that should never happen, will end,” Trump said.
The statement came after Putin refused to meet with Zenskyy in Turkey this week, despite proposing the meetings himself, since the Russian leader continued to refuse to participate in terms established by others.
Putin sent a low -level delegation, directed by his former Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky.
The meeting, held on Friday, ended after less than two hours without progress. The two parties agreed to change thousands of prisoners of war, but did not progress in a high durable fire.
On Saturday, Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the United States, and Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, spoke in a call.
Rubio welcomed the exchange of prisoners and reiterated the message of the Trump administration that “the United States is committed to achieving a lasting end for the Russia-Ukraine War,” said the State Department in a statement.
“The Comprehensive Peace Plan proposed by the United States describes the best way to follow,” said the statement. “The secretary emphasized the call of President Trump for a high immediate fire and the end of violence.”
In an interview with CBS that will be broadcast on Sunday, Rubio said that Lavrov told him in the call that the Russian side would prepare a document “that describes its requirements for a high fire that would lead to broader negotiations.”
He said that the Ukrainians would work in their own proposal, and if both documents are “close enough”, they could provide a basic to “advance.”
“If at the end of this, in the next few days, we obtain a document produced by both sides, and shows that both parties are.
Rubio added that the Vatican had made a “generous sacrifice” to organize more Russian-Ukrainian conversations, “not only a meeting between Zenskyy and Putin, but at any meeting, even at the technical level.”
On Friday, Trump told Fox News that “he always felt that there cannot be a [peace talks] Know without me because I don’t think an agreement is going to pass. . . I have a very good relationship with Putin, I think we will make a deal. ”
The time more criticized Zenskyy, arguing that he did not have “the letters”, but added that “Putin is tired of all this and is not, it does not look good. And he hears look good.”
