India’s live entertainment sector hits high notes, positioned for continued growth: Report

The live entertainment sector of India is witnessing unprecedented growth, driven by the increase in disposable income, rapid digital adoption and a hungry audience of world -class experiences. The organized live events segment exceeded the ₹ 12,000 million rupees in 2024 and is projected to grow at an annual compound rate of around 19 percent in the next three years, according to the EY report.

In 2024, more than 11 global stars held independent concerts in India, including Bryan Adams, Alan Walker, Dua Lipa and Maroon 5’s debut in Mumbai. Canadian artists of Indian origin, such as AP Dhillon and Karan Aujla, also turned a year.

Coldplays Spheres The concert in Ahmedabad stood out, attracting about 222,000 fans and generating an estimate of ₹ 641 million rupees in economic impact. The event increased local businesses and significantly raised Ahmedabad’s visibility in the global stage.

The domino effect of such mega events extends beyond the income and taxes of the tickets. They positively impact allied sectors such as tourism, hospitality, transport, logistics and retail trade. These concerts also create opportunities for talent and local professionals, encourage sustainable practices and promote inclusion and diversity in industry.

Ahmedabad airport managed 138,000 unprecedented travelers who door to the concert period, while local hotels and record restaurants govern income.

Looking towards the future, the concert economy of India presents fixed expansion opportunities. With a growing youth population, the increase in disposable revenues and the incibental interest in live experiences, cities throughout India are rapidly emerging as main destinations for acts of international music.

The next performances of Travis Scott (October 18), Guns N ‘Roses (May 17) and a planned Linkin Park tour further underline the impulse of the sector.
