The Minister of Agriculture of the Union, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said Monday that it is projected that the agricultural sector of India reaches a growth rate of 3-3.5 percent in the financial year 2025-26, based on the production of 2024-25 record crops.
Speaking at a press conference, Chouhan highlighted the importance of this growth, stating: “Worldwide, an agricultural growth rate or 1.5-2 percent is considered good. India is constantly achieving at least a time for control.
The second estimates of government progress forecast a 4.6 percent growth in the agricultural and ally sector in fiscal year 2000, reaching a value of ₹ 24.7 Lakh Crore, a significant increase in growth of 2.7 percent in fiscal year 2000.
Monsoon above normal
It is also expected that favorable climatic conditions contribute positively. The Department of Meteorology of India has predicted the rain “above normal” (105 percent of the average long-term period of 87 cm) for the current season of Montonas of June-Spotember. This crucial period represents approximately 75 percent of the annual rainfall of 116 cm India and is vital for 48 percent of the net cultivable area that lacks safe irrigation. The southwest monsoon is expected to arrive at the Kerala coast this week, about five days before the usual start of June 1.
Detailing the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” of 15 days (the agricultural resolution campaign) from May 29, the minister explained that the initiative aims to commit directly to 1.30 crore farmers in 65,000 villages in 723 agriculture.
“A total of 2,170 teams include 3,749 agricultural scientists of the Indian Agricultural Research Council (ICAR) and 2,980 Krishi Vigryan Kendra personnel, will be formed to ensure that each one at least teams. In different places daily,” Chouhan said.
Bianual event
Although the minister did not specify the estimated total cost of the campaign or the source of financing, he assured that “there will be no huge fund that is spent as states and the center will cover the expenses of the existing allocations.”
Icar’s general director, ML Jat, said this campaign will be a recurring biannual event, held both Kharif and Rabi seasons every year. “The learning of the current campaign will be integrated into the strategies developed for the next season of Rabi,” Statted. Chouhan said that he has encouraged scientists to dedicate a month to direct interaction with farmers and the remaining eleven months to research.
The minister also emphasized that the interaction will be a bidirectional dialogue, with scientists activities that accumulate farmers to inform the prepared road map of 6 points of the government to improve the agricultural sector. The six key approach areas identified by the Government are: higher production, lower supplies costs, reasonable crop prices, culture damage assistance, crop diversification and natural agriculture.
