The double Olympic champion registered 52.07 at the second meeting of Grand Slam in Florida

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone continued its impressive way in the Michael Johnson Track League, offering another dominant performance in the obstacles of 400 meters female on Saturday night (May 3) in Miami.

Just out of his triumph of Kingston, where he claimed the title of Hurdles Long to win both 400 m Flat and 400m Hurdles, the Olympic champion returned as a runner and did not waste time leaving his mark again. McLaughlin-Levrone registered a 52.07 world leader to obtain the victory and win the 12 full points for his second consecutive Grand Slam title.

Now he goes to the 400m floor on Sunday, an event in which he has a better personal staff of 48.74, with the Chans to ensure another title and a second day of payment of $ 100,000.

After his career, McLaughlin-Levrone said: “This is what athletics needs. I am excited to be part of it and be able to have it here in the United States. We feel it in Jamaica, so now to have it here in Florida is reason.

“The 400 obstacles are my baby, I have done it for so many years that I hope you are getting more than now.”

Anna Hall (Grand Slam track)

Behind her, Andrenette Knight of Jamaica finished second in 54.08, while the American heptatleta Anna Hall, competing in her first 400 m of obstacles since June 2023, occupied third place as a challenger.

Hall impressed with an end of 54.43, just 0.01 seconds from its best personal maximum of 54.42. It will also align for the 400 m floor on Sunday, another event that has not run in two years, where it has a PB or 50.82.

“That was really exhausting, but I feel relieved because I knew how those last obstacles would be,” Hall said. “I had really had time to work on them. Today it was really fun.”

Kenny Bednarek (Grand Slam track)

In another part of the track, Kenny Bednarek continued his brief dominance of Sprints. After taking the victory in Kingston, the American Sprint star flew from the blocks in the 100 meters in Miami and claimed the victory with a 9.79 assisted by the wind (2.4). The oblique Seville of Jamaica (9.84) and Ackeem Blake (9.85) followed very close, while the Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain completed a Top four stacked in 9.87.

In the category of female distance, Freeweyni Hailu of Ethiopia began things with a victory in the 1500m, running 4: 06.96 to take the 12 points in the direction at 800m on Sunday. Behind her was Nikki Hiltz, who unleashed a strong closing kick and almost caught Hailu, ending only a fraction behind 4: 07.08.

Hiltz, who won the 800m in Kingston and finished second in general, is now in a privileged position to challenge the Superior Award again if they can repeat that 800m victory in Miami.

Meanwhile, Trey Cunningham offered an outstanding performance in the short obstacles of men. The American matched his best personal brand with a 13.00 (1.4) victory in 110m obstacles, making a strong statement in his first appearance in Grand Slam as a challenger.

Behind him, Sasha Zhoya de France, who won the title of Kingston Slam, continued his constant career with a new staff of 13.06 for second place and eight points. Zhoya also took second place in obstacles in Jamaica and is known to be a strong contender on the 100 -meter floor. If you work well again, you could be in line to become another consecutive Grand Slam champion.
