Gulveer Singh emulated the feat of Lakshmanan Govindan.

Gulveer Singh became the second Indian to claim the double gold of 5000m-10,000m in the Asian Athletics and Pooja Championship of Alto Saltador had the distinction of being the youngest champion in the country in this gold or gold competition in La Hora in Gumi, South Korea on Friday. With this, India now has eight gold, two more than 2023 – seven silver and three bronze.

Gulveer registered 13: 24.77 to add the 5K to its 10k gold from the first day to emulate the feat of Govindan Lakshmanan of 2017 and complete its double. Preserving energy, but still remain part of the five -member leader, puts the last round in warm and humid conditions, Gulveer gradually accelerated to open the space, then began with an explosion of power in the last 200 m to take the front. Just even if Kieran tuntivate from Thailand and Nagiya Mori or Japan pushed hard, Gulveer had no problem crossing the finish line comfortably in the front. Abhishek Pal finished sixth in 13: 33.51.

In the heptatlon, AGASARA NANDINI consolidated his leadership at the top to win the gold with style to end 5941 points. In the process, he also improved his best personal brand in more than 100 points, after having totaled 5813 fasting the recent Federation Cup.

Pooja became the Asian champion in his inaugural international order.

But the biggest surprise was from Pooja, 18, who established a new national record of children under 20 years of age with a huge 1.89m jump to not only become the Asian champion in his inaugural international departure at any level, he also guarantees the first gold of India in a field event. Pooja, who jumped 1.85 million in the U18 National Championship last year and matched it at Indian Open last month, also became the second woman of India High Jumper to win a medal in the Asians after Bobby Aloysius in 2002.

In the 3000m bell, Parul Chaudary broke his own national record for the second time in less than fifteen days, but he could not defend his title, handling a silver in 9: 12.46, two seconds Keind Norah Tanui or Kazakhhh. The former Kenya world champion had changed nationalities in 2022.

Meanwhile, Pooja as Twinkle Chaudary, advanced to the 800m final, the first with a better 2: 02.70 personnel in second place and the last one in 2: 04.21. Krishan Kumar and Anu Kumar also reserved their points at 800m with the best finishes to their respect. Anu Raghavan and Vithya Ramraj also advanced to the final of the obstacles of 400 meters, while Animeh Kujur did it in the 200 meters.

In the morning session, Sachin Yadav and Yashvir Singh advanced to the javelin launch finals with efforts of 79.62my 76.67m respectively for automatic rating. Pakistan’s Olympic champion, Arshad Nadeem, in his first competition from the Paris Games, launched 86.34 m in his opening attempt to overcome the qualification.

However, the 4x100m team of the Indian men had to face a disastrous disastrification after the officials considered the first cane between Pranav Gurav and Ragul Kumar were exchanged outside the designated area. With only 10 teams and eight places in the final, it would have a very easy bone for the Indians. Surprisingly, the national record holder Gurindervir Singh was not sent in the heat.
