Chicago Man Charged for Taking Musician’s Unique $10,000 Violin

A Chicago man is accused of stealing a musician or his unique violin in his kind that is worth $ 10,000.

Timothy Johnson, thirty -nine, identifies as the suspect in the case surrounding the personalized instrument that was recently stolen from the Blue Line train, CWB Chicago reported Thursday.

The musician Cyrus Spurlock was on the train that was heading to Wicker Park when the incident in Clark and Lake Stop occurred the April 11 event.

Spurlock held the violin, who was inside his case, when he was taken from him. He told ABC 7 that he was handmade by a family member. He called the “irreplaceable” violin.

The 22 -year -old student at the Chicago Art Institute told police officers that he saw two men waiting outside the train train moments before the robbery occurred.

He said: “The doors were still opening and closing, and any of them returned, simply snatched the instrument and then ran out. I was in my lap. I was enduring and we fought for a second, but he was a little stronger.”

Then he expresses how valuable the instrument is for him and plans to sacrifice a reward to the person who presents himself with information that leads to the violin that is returned.

“It is a real gift, it is an instrument that really, I do not deserve it. I am not the best violin player, but it is a beautiful instrument. It is something that I hope to continue doing the rest of my life, it will.

Police shared images of the instrument, but has not reported to find the violin, according to CWB Chicago article.

Johnson is accused of theft in the case, said the departure, and said he is scheduled to present himself for a detention hearing on Thursday.

“According to the CPD records, Johnson was arrested for charges of assaulting a traffic employee at the Logan Square Blue Line station on February 28. He declared himself guilty on March 21 in exchange for a 30 -day sentence, according to judicial records,” the report said.

Users of social networks rushed to share their comments on the CWB Chicago report on the suspect, a person writing“His second name is Stradivarius.”

“This guy is violent, not a violinist”, another user saying.
