Could always stay in the suites of the embassy?
Some socialite ambassadors who have been appointed in comfortable positions by President Trump could be “homeless” now that the administration is distressed to close embassies and consulates, political sources said.
Somers Farkas, an element of high society in Tony Galas such as Central Park Hat Lunch, who is also the administrator of the New York City Police foundation and a FDNY honorary battalion chief, is Trump’s choice for the ambassador of the Republic of Malta, slope of the Senate.
Somers, married to the heir to Alexander Jonathan Farkas’s department stores, served in the committee to choose Trump’s White Casa.
In December, Trump said: “Somers is a model, philanthropist, documentary producer and successful businesswoman.”
A political source mocked: “Trump nominated her to be an ambassador to Malta … They are abolishing the thesis embassies under dogle and getting rid of them.”
The source added, asking the displaced ambassadors: “Are they going to camp?”
But a source told us that Farkas has attended the training of ambassadors in Alexandria, Virginia, and “is ready to go regardless” once it has been confirmed.
The source added that closing an embassy can take years and there are “many diplomatic steps that must be tasks.”
The mundane source said: “It’s not like closing a Starbucks!”
Another embassy under the threat of closing is in Luxembourg, while embassies in the Central African Republic, Eritrea, Gambia, Lesotho, Congo and South Sudan also close.
The proposed ambassador for Luxembourg is Stacey Feinberg, a member of the Board of Women’s Founders that has produced Broadway musicals and is a motivating speaker.
Other ambassadors of large notes include former Fox News Kimberly Guilfoyle (Greece) and former NFL Herschel Walker (Bahamas) star.
A senior state department official warned that plans have not been published, and any filtered information does not reflect completed plans.
