Woman dies, another in critical condition after cryotherapy session goes wrong

A woman died and another was fighting for her life after a cryotherapy chamber working in a gym in Paris, with gaseous gas in the capsule.

An Air Gym employee, who was 20 years old, died after a suspended nitrogen leak treatment session, a cryotherapy treatment session, while a customer, a woman in her 30s, was hospitalized, AFP reported, citing police sources.

“An investigation into the cause of death has been launched,” said the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office in a statement.

According to the reports, the client participated in a cryotherapy session when the nitrogen gas leaked from a cold camera just before 6:30 pm local time.

Three other people who tried to revive the woman were urgently transferred to the hospital, and 150 were evacuated from the building.

A body was seen that was carried out covered with a white sheet and screens were installed outside the building.

Cryotherapy duration of the whole body, the patient is subject to temperatures of -148 ° F for a time of no more than three minutes.

Nitrogen, a colorless and toilet gas, is commonly used cryotherapy of duration.

This exposure to sub-confellation temperatures causes the body to limit blood flow and release hormones, including adrenaline and endorphins.

Treatment supporters say it reduces muscle pain, stress, rheumatism and skin conditions.

According to reports, several prominent athletes and other celebrities have used cryotherapy in the past, including LeBron James, Floyd Mayweather, Demi Moore, Joe Rogan and Jennifer Aniston.

But experts warn that their benefits have not yet caused the leg medically and requests additional scrutiny to determine the short and term effects.

In 2015, a 24 -year -old woman died after freezing the treatment of death cryotherapy in a spa in Las Vegas.

It was believed that Chelsea Patricia Ake-Salvation entered one of the cameras after business hours, and his co-worker discovered his body the next day.
