Palo Alto-A woman from Palo Alto, 50, was arrested over the weekend under suspicion of spitting a man while shouting a racial epithet, according to the authorities.
The officers were called to Lytton Plaza in the 200 block of University Avenue around 6 PM on Saturday for a fight report, said the Police Department of Palo Alto in a press release. They arrived to find a man in his 60s who said he had just bedded his leg for a woman.
Police said an investigation revealed that the man had been sitting in the square when the woman approached him and without provocation on him as he shouted a racial epithet aimed at black people.
The man, fearing for his safety, left the square while the woman continued shouting, police said.
The officers found a suspect a short distance and stopped it without incident.
When he saw the man nearby, he resumed shouting racial epithets, police said.
The woman was admitted to the Santa Clara County prison due to landing charges to alter peace, aggression and commit a crime of hate, as well as a vandalism order.
