Married NYC pet owners love their pups more than partners

Every morning, Elsie González, a married mother of four four years, turns in bed and kisses the love of her life.

That would be the first maltipoo dog, Massimo, a spongy leather ball that carries everywhere, from the office to France and even in the bathroom.

“Instead of giving my husband, Alex, a kiss, I wake up and give Massimo all my kisses,” said Elsie, 44, a divorce lawyer from Jersey City, New Jersey, to the post. “It’s the same before going to sleep at night.”

If Alex is looking for a little love from his wife, even on his wedding anniversary, he is barking the wrong tree.

“If I had done this dog before getting married,” Elsie laughed, “my husband might not exist.”

She and Massimo are a Perrillar Game made in heaven. But for Alex, secondly to the little and furry child package, who and Elsie refer accordingly as his “archEPENEMI”, can really bite.

When his work took advantage of him to travel to Paris last year, a work trip he hoped he would double as a romantic event with his girlfriend, Alex found his hammer as the third wheel to Elsie and Massy Mommy-And-me Gay.

“I love my husband,” Elsie insisted. “But he knew that if he couldn’t bring the dog, he went to Paris.”

Alex, the poor guy (and good sport), jokes tells The Post that he learned to deal with “pain” or when he was the last on Elsie’s list.

But it is a pain that many spouses of pet parents are forced to endure. The link between the owner of an animal and his four -legged beloved is one that rivals the flame in most romantic relationships.

In fact, researchers from the University of the United Kingdom found that the psychological benefits of having a furry partner are in Parh to have a human honey.

“Pets increase the satisfaction and well -being of human life in a similar way to family and friends … to some extent, they are just a substitute for the thesis,” he wrote a lot about the study of March 2025.

“The value of pets for their human caregivers seems to be very high, comparable to … meeting with friends and family regularly, or even being married,” experts explained.

The hairy findings make the previous Doggo data, which revealed that 30% of millennials, people from 27 to 42 years old, with an acuity for the kittens or a preference for the puppies of prefer their pets to their partners.

It is a fact that Misha Belle, 29, does not make bones about when it comes to her French bulldog, Winston.

“To be fair, I had Winston before having my husband,” said Belle, a newly married Long Islander, to the post. “Then, he is my first love.”

The recent bride, an influence of lifestyle and “Dog Momager” that directs the accounts of Winston’s social networks, hooked the husband Mike in September, after his 7 -year -old arch, the boy of the boy of his approval or course.

“My husband had never had a dog before, so he played a time to get used to each other,” said Belle de Mike and Winston. “But I remember the first time I saw them hug, and I thought:” Oh my God, he will work. “

For her, Winston, a “better model” in Puppywood who has starred in campaigns for people like Petco, is more than a pet.

It’s like a person.

“I swear it’s not even a dog,” said Belle, while fighting tears. “Hello, it really understands me more than myself.”

Gary, husband and father of two children, based in Chelsea, shares a similar symbiotic relationship with his Golden Retriever, Marley.

“I love my family, but they are not always easy,” Gary said, a 30 -year -old moment who chose not to share his last name for privacy purposes. “Marley is always easy.”

“If I am having a hard day, I can put my head on Marley’s shoulder, he is the one who keeps me happy and healthy,” continued the proud dog, and added that Golden Boy was crowned “better look in the world” in the world “in the world”

And because of his inflexible loyalty and status as bitch royalty, Gary spoils Marley, 7, with a first level treatment for his wife’s disgust, Susan.

“As much as my wife and I love each other, Marley is the one I want to hug,” Gary said with a smile.

He regularly mocks Susan for being “jealous” or Bromance and Marley, witnessed by the more than 2 million followers on the social networks of the dog. Before leaving the door, Gary hugs, rubs and kisses his farewell farewell, before throwing his girlfriend the sign of La Paz, in a viral video.

Gary tells the publication “Comfort and the company”, Marley’s recovered “can never be replicated with another human.”

For Manhattanite and his puppy companions, pets (sometimes more than their people) make dogs of dogs seem valuable.

“Anyone who does not have a dog completely lost the plot,” Gary insisted. “Without a dog, you can’t live your life to the fullest.”

And Alex, speaking of Massimo Shadow, of course, agrees, pointing out that it is a positive side for men who have lost their girlfriend’s heart with their puppy.

“Boys, get your wife a dog,” he advised. “You will finally have some to share the pain and agree with you.”
