Berkeley-Cal closed a chapter on his low season of more busy football in the years of Saturday, with a two-hour scrimmage in his case of spring show or perhaps 500 fans in the Sunny Memorial Stadium.

With university football in the midst of a dramatic change, the ninth year coach, Justin Wilcox, is under some pressure to take the Bears to another level at his second season at the Atlantic coast conference.

“I think we join very well,” Wilcox said about the progress made in more than 16 spring practices. “I feel really good about where the team can be. We have many areas where we have to improve continuous. I have a lot of confidence.”

Cal played in a bowl game last autumn for the second consecutive season, but has not completed a winning season since 2019 or a winning conference record since 2009.

The low season has presented a review or Wilcox coaching staff, with six new assistant coaches, including offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin, former Boise State and Auburn chief coach.

The defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon left the Saints of New Orleans, so the coach of external supporters Vic So’oto and the assistant on defensive backs Terrence Brown were elevated this week as coordinators.

The one -time coach at Washington State, Nick Rolovich, was hired as Senior offensive assistant and Bob Gregory, who served as DC for eight seasons under Jeff Tedford, is on board as a senior defensive assistant.

Supervising the entire operation is the former NFL chief coach and legendary Cal Ron Rivera, who was brought as general manager and will directly inform Foreign Minister Rich Lyons. Expectations have increased.

“Another regular season of six victories will be disappointing given how much we are investing,” Lyons told Jon Wilner of this news organization in an February interview.

The three quarterbacks competing for work No. 1 obtained significant duration of scrimmage representatives. Junior Devin Brown, a transfer of national champion Ohio State, has the greatest experience. The first year student Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele is a left-handed with a large arm. And the first year student of Red T -shirt, eg Caminong, the only one returned, has remained in the mixture with a constant game.

Wilcox, who is not expected to name a headline until at some point in the weeks prior to the opening of the August 30 season in the state of Oregon, has been encouraged by all three.

“Everyone has shown some printing things in the football field and in the meeting room,” he said. “All of them have another step that they can take and will take before reaching the first game. Very, very satisfied with that field Marshal and what coach Harsin has done with those boys.

“We have put many things in them. We are going to push the envelope there and by the time we get to the season there are things that we can choose for those guys and for our offensive for which we feel really good.”

Senior Jaydn Ott corridor, who hastened more than 1,300 yards in 2023, but it was Kured Must last season, looks like his old self, fast and decisive. He scored a couple or touchdowns.

The Bears brought five transfers to help reorganize an offensive line that has been poor, and the defense must replace four headlines in high school, including corner All-America Nohl Williams and two others that can be selected in the NFL draft.

Each program of a Power Four conference will take care of the expected changes this fall that includes a list limit if 105 players and direct payments to athletes. And the OpensDedy transfer portal, so the player’s movement, in both addresses, is about to resume.
