Animal lovers now have a place to hang out with “IT” animals of the moment: great hairy rodents.

At the back of a real estate office building in what is known as the oldest city in the United States, Capybaras crawls into the turns of visitors, eating corn in the cob and looking for humans of humans in the Capybara coffee in St. Augustine, Florida.

“You give them many scratches and love,” said Stephanie Angel, who opened Capybara Cafe at the end of last year. “Many times they will rise to your lap because they are very accustomed to people, and if you are really good to scratch, they will actually fall. So that is always our life goal so comfortable life life life life life life life life life life life life this life life life this life this life this life is born nure dates data.” “

Since he opened its doors in October in the center of St. Augustine, near the Flagler College campus, hundreds of animal lovers have visited the site to give the scratches of the Capybaras head. The reservations are reserved several months in advance by clients such as Leah Macri, who recently visited the location of Northast Florida from Orlando with their daughter.

“Your skin child is feeling like straw,” Macri said.

After entering a reception area with sofas and an open pen or chicks, visitors are escorted in a narrower room in half -box or less people groups. The blankets are placed on their laps, and three capibaras are brought to the room.

Other animals such as a Moto, Walaby and Armadillo also introduce themselves into the room, and crawl between humans and their laps. The cost is $ 49 per person for a half -hour encounter and $ 99 for a one -hour encounter that involves the other animals.

I just thought he had come for the Capybaras, Macri enjoyed holding the armadillo more.

“He was tender, like the best. He was the softest,” he said. “It was very sweet.”

Capybara-a semi-chematic South American relative of the Indian bunny is the last of a long line of “Ti” animals to receive the treatment of stars in the United States.

Duration of the Christmas shopping season last year, buyers could find capibara shoes, wallets, robes and bathing pumps. Axolotls, owls, hedgehogs, foxes and lazy have also recently had turns in the center of attention.

Capybaras with web legs can grow more than 4 feet long and weigh well north of 100 pounds.

“Many times they will rise to your lap because they are very accustomed to people, and if you are really good scratching, they will actually fall. So that is always our goal. AP

Several zoos and Willife parks in the United States meet Capybaras, but Angel said that none of them provides intimacy with the animals that visitors obtain in Capybara Café.

Angel said he plans to open another Capybara coffee throughout the state in St. Petersburg, Florida, soon.

The location of San Agustín does not sell coffee or hot food, such as a coffee involved in its name, but sells t -shirts with capybara themes, coffee cups and stuffed animals.

Café was created for the financial support of the non -profit organization of Hastings, Florida, Noah’s Ark Sanctuary Inc., a refuge of animals, Angel said.

Chris Cooper, who visited Capybara Café with his wife, was surprised at how rough and rude that Capybaras was.

“And I was waiting for how affectionate they were,” said Cooper, who led 157 miles from Weeki Wachee to see the creatures. “They enjoy practical friction.”
