Olivia Munn details ‘brutal’ postpartum struggles that were ‘more difficult than going through cancer’

Olivia Munn’s experience with postpartum depression was worse than his battle against cancer.

Olivia Munn says that his postpartum struggles were “more difficult” than his battle against breast cancer.

“When you stop breastfeeding immediately, your hormones fall, and the postpartum can enter like a tornado,” the star of the “Writing Room” to Self Magazine for a cover story said Thursday.

Munn, 44, welcomed his first child, his son Malcolm, with John Mulaney in 2021, almost two years before being diagnosed with cancer. He admitted in the new interview he had talked to anyone about his mental health problems at that time.

“I did not record any of that and I didn’t tell anyone about that,” he said, adding: “Then it was as if I fell from a cliff, and I was falling and falling and falling and falling. It was more difficult than going through cancer.”

The “new girl” student told The Outlet that she began to experience postpartum anxiety a month after Malcolm was born on November 24, 2021.

“My eyes open at 4 am by air. I have oppression in my chest, and it is like this all day,” he described. “He felt like the end of the world … It was like when you watch a horror movie, the sausage, the horror movie that you can think, this is how my body felt.”

Munn said that his pain was “physical” and that he would have to hold on to Mulaney’s arm to get from one room to another as if “ran [her] knee. ”

“I was operating normally, but I felt very depressed,” Munn recalled of emotions after becoming a mother. “It was launched when I had the baby’s weight, and nothing was appropriate.”

Munn said that she, comparing with other new mothers who apparently had no problem recovering with her weight prior to pregnancy.

“I would see people on social networks, people I knew had babies at the same time. I communicated with some of them,” he said. “And I say:” How are you in these Valentino shorts and on this roof of the coast running around Los Angeles and have the energy to take all these beautiful photos? “

The “Magic Mike” star said that “he did not have the ability to” pretend “to be happy at that time.

“I didn’t have the energy to pretend anything they were pretending,” he said.

Munn had discussed the medication with the star of “Saturday Night Live” and his therapist, but remembered to be anywhere to help herself.

“I would really have tasks [medication]But when I was talking about that, I had gone so far that even if you put me a pill in my hand, I would have tasks, “he said.

Munn believes that part of his anxiety can have votes of his inability to breastfeed.

“And I couldn’t make breast milk. I think [that] Anxiety began, “he said to the exit.” VI – I am telling you – three breastfeeding coaches. I did the vitamins, the water, the heating … I would take me all day to fill only one bottle. “

As he had already done three egg recoveries over the years, Munn and Mulaney, 42, were able to welcome his second son, his daughter Méi, through substitute.

She was born on September 14, 2024.
